Dylan, James and Paper Planes at Plan9

We all have fascinated with paper planes during our school days but no one at that time had thought about making money out of it or taking it as a profession. In Australia, things are slightly different, they do take it as a competition at national level. Two guys from Australia named James Norton and Dylan Parker visited Arfa Software Technology Park to meet PlanX and Plan9 startups. So they had a session in the auditorium hall and everyone had a great time with them. If you don't know about these guys let me give you just a small intro.

Dylan and James have made a movie on Paper planes which was released in spring last season. The movie got a good response. Dylan Parker aged 28 is a marketing expert and James Norton aged 30 is a landscape architect. Dylan and James both were studying at University of Canberra and met in 2008 at a paper plane competition for the first time. Since then, they have been doing things together.

They were here at ASTP to promote paper planes. A day before meeting us they had a session with school kids as well and engaged them in flying planes. In a session with us, they talked about their journey and the movie. In the second half, they taught us how to make a different kind of paper planes. There were the flat ones that spend the most time in the air and the short bullet-shaped ones that fly like javelins. The designs were incredible. First, they threw flat one and I grabbed it in fact out of five planes I grabbed three of them, PlanX staff asked me to return those plane as she had to put all the planes on a wall at their office. In the end, everyone made three types of planes each and there were paper planes flying all over everywhere. A very good and exciting session ended with a smile and joy on the faces of all.

Well, most of you will be thinking like they were freaks in a "Why are you taking it so seriously?" but really it is an untapped area and unseen sight as they both are doing a tremendous job. Have a look at the movie trailer too.

       

Demo Day 2016 at PlanX

Demo day means you have to give a demonstration to every single person who is standing next to you. Pitches and convincing all the way. I had to deal with religious pilgrimage which I did in a good way. It was my very first experience at Demo Day which took place on March 26, 2016. Full of surprises, this year’s PlanX Demo Day showcased some amazing creations from the startup freaks out there. While there were many familiar faces to be seen, everyone had something new to offer to the table. There were few sessions in the auditorium as well so, it was a full house.

A lot of things were there, interviews, investors, mentors and leads too. Being a very first attendant of this exciting event I went through a completely different experience. I learned a lot, too many interactions with others, demonstrations, again and again, answers of burning questions, that was something I had never faced before. But, I liked it. The blog which covered us, I had a small interview with Mehreen Omer.

          

Is Life busy for everyone han? I invited my whole class to the demo day just to let them see how things work here. Believe me, not a single mate came, coincidentally one classmate came and he was there in search of the job. If they would have come it could have been a different experience for them.

Progress at PlanX

In the picture below me and Khurram Mir (CEO of BookMyUmrah Pvt Ltd) are standing since 4 months of the soft launch of their website. We were being covered by different news and technology blogs. PlanX noticed it and they asked both of us for a click. They captured it and shared via their official facebook page.





There are few more blogs and authors who covered our news. It gave us kinda popularity and of course backlinks too. That was the time when we started monetizing our skills. We were the only startup who started making money. Although customer acquisition cost was pretty high but these issues are neglectable at the moment.

That is how I started things

Finally, I am doing the thing, I had been trying to do for quite some time. Yes! My very first post on my blog. Moving on talking about professional life, it wasn't my first job but since new era has started, there are many things developed which were lurk in the past. I still remember back in 2011 when I first engrossed in making websites and boosting them, without knowing the ABC about them. After eating up too many efforts and dedication of several days I got to know about how things really work. Anyways I started with a friend of mine and after few years, in 2016 I found myself right in the slot where I wanted. So, initially, from co-working space, I migrated from Cavalry Ground to ASTP (Arfa Software Technology Park). Perhaps the biggest Information Technology hub of the country if I am not mistaken. My IDs were submitted along with Khurram Mir, who applied for acceleration of his product as an entrepreneur at PlanX. Luckily, he hit right on the block hole where he planned for and things started on a new level with certain expectations.

It's a small place to sit but enough to Skyrock your business ideas as every second day there are sessions, interactions, and pitches all the way. Investors visit, marketing stunts and much more at one place.

There had been so many changes in my life, sometimes it changed dramatically. I have come through few problems and complexities. I had put on too much weight haha Ya! But to loose, it was a hard nut to crack. I don't want to share those pictures because of people around me. A lot of hard work followed by hours and hours workout at the gym helped me a lot to make it stable. I know its off topic but the thing I have observed in my life is people here, love to criticize others. I think it's enough for now, Bye Bye till next post.
